ProJet receives order from USG for Suction Roll Cleaners

June 2021

ProJet (www.pro-jet.nl) received an order for 3 new high pressure suction roll cleaners from USG, Gypsum, OH, USA. The value of the order will not be disclosed and the equipment is scheduled to be delivered in October, 2021 and installation & start-up in Q1, 2022.

United States Gypsum (USG), headquartered in Chicago, serves construction markets around the world with wall, ceiling, flooring, sheathing and roofing products that enable customers to build the outstanding spaces where people live, work and play.
USG’s network of plants, mines, quarries and other facilities includes 49 manufacturing locations and 6,900 employees across North America.

The mill in Gypsum, OH mainly produces gypsum board on a continuous manufacturing line, quite similar to paper board manufacturing, where suction rolls remove water from the gypsum slurry. The suction rolls tend to get plugged with gypsum over time and require cleaning to maintain the suction holes open and thus guaranteeing enough dewatering capacity.

ProJet has developed a unique suction roll cleaning system that use multiple nozzles at extreme high pressure (7,500psi), yet low water consumption. The nozzles oscillate over the width of the suction roll 24 hours per day, as long as the line is running. The system has a mist collection system to avoid water and gypsum to spray in the gypsum board forming area. A total of 3 Suction Roll Cleaners will be supplied, one for each Suction Roll.

Furthermore, the ProJet system delivers the following operational and performance benefits:

  • Substantial cleaning water savings (= operational cost reduction + improved profitability): the Eco4000 provides superior cleaning performance, while only consuming 2.0gpm (8.0 liter/min) of water. A conventional oscillating shower consumes over 100.0gpm of water, leading to substantial more electrical power and waste water treatment costs.
  • Water mist elimination is achieved by the application of air knives that contain water mist and contamination, which is discharged through Venturi tubes and finally into a save all pan.
  • Targeted cleaning enables an operator to control the Cleaner for not only overall CD fabric/felt cleaning but to also apply targeted zone/strip or edge cleaning.

ROI calculator:

ProJet understands that each client application and each manufacturing process is unique. For that reason, ProJet developed an automated ROI-calculator that will be applied to each application and produced paper grade. By contacting info@projetinc.us or info@pro-jet.nl ProJet will perform a no-charge ROI calculation of any belt cleaning application. After inputting the process parameters provided by customers, they will be provided with a ROI-Analysis of each specific application and investment justification.
